What to wear for a Photography Session - Spring 2012

On this first day of Spring, I am thinking about how beautiful the weather has been!  I love the bright, sunny and cool weather we have been experiencing.  With Easter and Mother's day coming up on the calendar, this is a great time to prepare you on what to wear for your spring photo session.

Pick clothing that is comfortable and that you can move around in.  My photo shoots are filled with moving ~ walking, sitting on the ground and interacting with your family.  I always suggest that you start with choosing outfits for your children.  Pick something that they love to wear, and will not fight you on the morning of the photo shoot.  Once you are comfortable with what your children are wearing, choose something for you.  Again, choose something you feel gorgeous in, mix up the colors...perhaps you wear one of the colors of your daughter's dress for your top, and wear denim on the bottom.  Your significant other can get away with wearing a more neutral color, and denim or khaki pants.  Add accessories....scarves, hats, jewelry if it suits your style.

I LOVE color!  Don't be afraid to go bold, bright, or choose stripes or plaids for one or two of your outfits.  I do advise to stay away from screen print tee shirts or large logos.  Here are 2 examples of how you can mix and match your family's wardrobe with one or two color direction.  First example is a pretty dark coral color, which is seen in all 4 outfits.  Second example, we added 2 main colors, turquoise and grey, and added denim and white to round it out.

Here are a few examples of some clients wardrobe choices, great coordinating, but not too much match-y match-y going on!

Shane . Redondo Beach children's photographer

What a happy little guy!  I so enjoyed photographing this family, and if you can believe, 3 whole generations!  We met up at the Redondo Beach Pier which is such an awesome place for taking photos. Aside from the years of history, and variety of restaurants and shops, this place is full of color, textures, gorgeous back drops, and you even get the beach, sun rocks, etc.  You really can't ask for more.

I asked this family to interact, talk, hug, walk, and to not look at me.  I love how the photos turned out, very authentic, and with so much joy.  Little Shane was the best smiler ever, and he thought I was absolutely hysterical!  Thanks, and enjoy!

Beautiful Black and White . I Heart Faces photo challenge

I Heart Faces has a brand new challenge for this month...the theme is black and white. There are some images that just say "black and white"...perhaps it is the emotion one can see coming off the photograph. I love how comfortable this 3 year old little dude was with me and my camera. Enjoy!
