Kai . Rancho Palos Verdes children's photographer

Can you believe this little guy is almost one year old?  Do you remember his newborn session, or perhaps his 6 month session?  It is amazing how quickly time flies...and how much babies change in their first year of life.  Kai is so loved by his mom and dad, and 3 older sisters, this family is so tight, respectful, and loving.  It is always such a joy to hang out with them, and capture their day.

I am definitely in holiday family photo session mode!! I photographed this family last year; you can see their session here.  I love seeing how the kids have grown, especially little Ellis, with her cute hair cut (apparently, she did most of it herself...ooops).  We met down at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, and I must say, that the ambient light was really beautiful. The opportunities for photos are so vast and diverse, it is one of my very favorite places to shoot.  

Autumn Splendor . I Heart Faces photo challenge

I love the theme for this week's I Heart Faces photo challenge.  I only wish I lived somewhere where the leaves change colors....like in New Hampshire, Vermont or even near the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri.  Oh well, this image spoke Autumn to me...there are some leaves on the ground, right?  

Kyle + Adam . Hermosa Beach Family Photographer

We have had some rain here in Hermosa Beach....funny that it has been raining just on the weekends, which makes it really hard for photo shoots!  We found some time during the weekday for this shoot, and I am so glad we did.  The sky was so pretty, the sun was out, and the air was cool enough for cute scarves, boots, and layering.  

Best parts of this session?  

*I am sure that this family was laughing at me when I was using my "tricks" that I use for little ones on their dog, Zoe, to get her attention and to look my way.  I am SO not a dog person, and that was pretty absolutely comical.  

*This family is so loving, and cares so much about each other.  I love that the boys' mom listens to her boys, and they obviously have so much respect for one another.  I walked up to meet them as they were solving a problem. Together.  What love!

*These boys are true Hermosians. One loves the surf, the other his skateboard.  They showed me exactly who they are, which is exactly the way I like my shoots to go.  Way to go, Kyle and Adam!

Black . I Heart Faces photo challenge

This week I Heart Faces photo challenge theme is Black.  I recently took this photo of this gorgeous mom and daughter duo...sharing a hug and a giggly moment.  They look so positively perfect in black against this foggy day background.  And their smiles just light up the moment, too.
