Thatcher + Blake . Manhattan Beach family photographer

Last Saturday was so gorgeous!  Every time I looked up at the sky, I got a little more excited about having a photo session scheduled for later that afternoon.  The sky was so blue and clear ~ gorgeous.

I know this family, like many of the families around our area, through a couple of different avenues.  Our town is small, so you get to know people by seeing them at the gym, perhaps downtown, the favorite restaurants, etc.  I can say that they are also one of the nicest families around.  Seriously, so genuinely lovely.

Part of the fun in having a family photo session is the silliness that ensues.  I greeted these little guys with high fives and knuckle bump explosions.  We joked about how old they were, and they laughed at my inability to recognize Lightning McQueen from the Cars movie on his bike ("handy manny?, mickey mouse?, Tinkerbell?").  My goal with the littles is to create a connection and some trust as soon they will let me.  They brought their bikes, which was so cool, as Thatcher was just learning how to ride without training wheels.  How fun to be able to capture him celebrating his success riding around on just 2 wheels!

I had intended on placing these little guys on chairs holding pinwheels, blowing in the soft breeze, and perhaps running through the green grass with the butterfly nets.  I knew within the first few minutes that this photo session would be more about bike riding, tree climbing, and putting those butterfly nets on their heads, instead.  Way more fun!!

Loving on these boys!!
